Tofu Experiments #1

Ah, I’ve done this one before, but it’s been a while. In 2017, my hubby and I watched “What the Health” and I totally freaked out. I paced up and down for 1 hour rambling about how the system is rigged and how people lied to us all of our lives. I was worried, I was stressed up, but mostly, I was scared. I was scared that my husband was now contaminated with eating all of this GMO food. I was scared that I had eaten GMO food for 25 years. I was scared that we had both been eating way too many animal products. I freaked out. I vowed that day that I would be vegan.

2 years later, I became pregnant. I was a vegan for 2 successful years, and then the cravings hit me. I caved. I gave in and ate chicken and fish and occasionally goat (a Nigerian delicacy apparently), beef, and turkey. Post-partum came and I continued to eat animal products. And now, 5 months post-partum, well, hubby and I have returned. So, Fried Tofu with Sauce, here we come.

Fried Tofu with Sauce Marinated, Fried Tofu?…Fried Tofu with Liquid Amino Sauce

1 pack of Firm or Super Firm Tofu

Olive Oil

2 to 3 tbsp of Cornstarch (I know, I know, but get the Non-GMO kind for now, and I’ll figure out a workaround later)

Seasonings, I used:

Garlic and Herb Seasonings which has Garlic, Parsley, and other things. Probably Oregano.

Directions:

  1. Drain the Tofu.
  2. Cut the Tofu into cubes.
  3. In a bowl, mix the Cornstarch with the Seasonings
  4. CAREFULLY stir the Tofu in the cornstarch mixture.
  5. In an Iron Skillet, fry the Tofu until lightly brown.
  6. Turn the Tofu and brown lightly.
  7. Remove the Tofu. Place on a pan with parchment paper.
  8. Bake the Tofu on 350 for 10 minutes or until desired crispiness is achieved.
  9. Remove pan from the oven.
  10. Enjoy.

Recommendations:

  1. Seasonings to try: Salt and Pepper, Garlic and Cilantro, BBQ, Sesame, the possibilities are within reason.
