
As summer approaches, hubby and I have started to think of ways to lose weight and be healthy. We’re nearing our 30’s and we know the difficulties that could possibly come our way. After watching so many family members and movies about obesity and health issues, we’re scared. That’s right, we’re freaking SCARED. Everyone always talks about how you add 10-15 pounds once you hit 30. They say it like it’s natural, as if there’s no way getting around it, it’s going to happen no matter what you do.
In light of our scary situation, we’ve decided to be more proactive about our health. We’ve decided to start by eating smoothies every morning. Our routine now goes like this: wake up, go for a walk/run, shower, eat a smoothie. Now I know the smoothie would probably help with our run, and I know we should probably drink some water before heading out, but baby steps people! We’re starting our proactive journey.
The first smoothie we tried is our Creamy Smoothie.
1 Banana
2 cups of Spinach
1 tbsp of crunchy Peanut Butter
1 tbsp of Flax Meal
1 tbsp of Chia Seeds
1 cup of unsweet Almond Milk
1/2 cup of Berries
We throw everything in and blend it up. Now, for some advice:
- If you like it cold, use frozen bananas.
- If you’re making for two, just double the recipe.
- We use a mixture of berries, but you could definitely use one type of berry.
- You could totally substitute the Peanut Butter with Almond Butter. We are going to substitute with Peanuts, eventually.

Second smoothie: Chocolate Smoothie.
1 Banana
2 tbsp of Peanut Butter
1 tbsp of Cacao Powder
1 cup of unsweet Almond Milk
1 tbsp of Maple Syrup
Throw it in, drink it up. Advice:
- You could susbstitute Maple Syrup with Dates.
- You could use Almond Butter instead of Peanut Butter. We’re going to use Almonds, eventually.
- You could use a frozen banana.

Smoothie #3: Energy Smoothie
1 cup of unsweet Almond Milk
2 cups of Spinach
1 cup of Berries
1 Banana
1 tbsp of Chia Seeds
1 tbsp of Flax Meal
1/2 tsp of Cinnamon
